This Week in Ed Tech@TTUSD

Happy Friday!  Educational Technology is beginning the October Site Visits on Monday.
Check out the PD calendar for your Ed Tech Site Visit date!

As this month is "Connected Educator Month" (click here for more) our focus will be on Social Media (Facebook, Twitter, Google+) and backchanneling tools (Today's Meet, Twitter, Polleverywhere).

Click here for our October Resource document for more information on Social Media and Backchanneling Tools.

1:1 Project Update
All students in the 1:1 prototype projects have received their Chromebooks and have started using them for learning in the classroom!  At ACMS and NTS the Chromebooks are being deployed from the students' English classrooms and will move out into the other core subject classrooms in the next few weeks as the students are trained on handling and appropriate use.
Many of the students are asking, "when can we take the Chromebooks home?"  They are excited to begin using for their work, anytime, anywhere!  Before taking the device home, the parents and students will need to attend trainings about appropriate use at home as well as be informed about insurance options.
Google Apps for Education
Here is our parent/community FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) website regarding our transition from legacy productivity suites to Google Apps for Education.

Access your Google Drive "Offline"

Getting Things Done
Are you interested in a system to help prioritize short term to-do items vs. long term projects and goals?  Recently I found a new Chrome extension called any.do that assists in this process.  Any.do also provides an app for Android and iOS that syncs with the any.do servers so my lists are always together, synced, and up-to-date. Awesome Idea!
A number of teachers around the district are using technology to connect with parents near...and far.  Sure, some parents are unable to attend back-to-school night at their child's school, but it doesn't mean they were left out.
